Sphinx Sign Evangelinos

Nic Evangelinos has agreed to put pen to paper and re-sign for Coventry Sphinx for the coming season.

Nic is currently in the process of completing his degree at Manchester University but doesn’t return there until late September. Playing in a handful of games last year in a young side he scored some good goals.

Manager Luke Hopkins Commented: "Nic's a great signing for us, we know what hes all about from last year, hes previosuly worked with Herbs and a few of the new lads at Rugby so it ties in well. We have got a big strong partner for him in Piggs so hoepfully its all systems go with the pair. Hes only around until late September, but that’s a quarter of the season so if he can get us off to a flyer all well and good. When he's available to play due to half term etc I can see him playing 20+ games for us.

Nic came in last season and scored 5 in 5 games so he obviously hasn't lost the knack of scoring goals and hopefully him and Mitch can strike up a partnership early doors.

Hopkins added " We've got two forwards in and got other lads who can play up there as well, but realistically we want 3 out and out forwards to add some competition to it, its hard keeping all 3 happy, but if they are working hard and scoring it’s a job me and herbs have to deal with a horrible job but a nice place to be… we have one or two to look at over the next week and hopefully we can get that 3rd to set us up nicely"

"Pre-season sessions so far have been very good with 1st team and Youth together. We still have players on holidays and one or two other triallists to look at. At the moment I am more than happy with the effort the lads are putting and cant wait for the 1st friendly against Racing Warwick on Tuesday evening"
