Coventry Sphinx won 4-1 at Atherstone Town tonight.
Luke Hopkins fielded former City youngsters Lewis Rankin and Kyle Barnett in his starting line up for this Polymac League Cup tie and saw his side take the lead in the 12th minute when Jackson Downie was hauled down and Ash Jackson scored from the resulting penalty.
Atherstone levelled two minutes later through a low angled Michael Bloore drive.
In the 55th minute, Sphinx were back in front when Louis Rankin, headed home a Charles Wilson cross.
With fourteen minutes left, Rankin fired high into the net from a McBride cross and in the last minute, Richard Blythe ran in to score a fourth.
