Sphinx Denied A Win

Ten man Coventry Sphinx were denied a victory but kept their unbeaten home record going with a 2-2 draw against Kirby Muxloe at Sphinx Drive.

Making their first ever appearance at Sphinx Drive, the Leicestershire side took the lead through an 8th minute Craig Pietrzyk penalty.

Down to ten men for the second half following the dismissal of James Halton at the break, Kelvin Phillips scored his 14th goal of the season for Sphinx in the 48th minute to level the game with Callum Woodward making it 2-1 to Danny McSheffrey's side ten minutes later.

Sphinx let their lead slip when Danny Taylor netted nine minutes from time.

On Saturday, it is local derby time for Coventry Sphionx when they take on Stratford Town, who beat Shifnal 6-1 this afternoon with former City youngster Aza O'Garro on the scoresheet, at Sphinx Drive. Kick off is at 3pm.
