Sphinx Boss Stands Down

Coventry Sphinx manager Robbie Banks has resigned.

Banks, who was a player-manager, told the Sphinx website: "'My coaching business has really put a strain on my man hours and anyone who has managed at any level of football knows how much time managing a side can take up

"I would love to keep managing the side but cant commit 100% commitment it needs and I am the sort of person who gives 100% in everything I do.

"I would like to go on record and firstly thank Coventry sphinx for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club and also to thank Martin Ascroft & Lynton Wilkinson for their support over the last few months I have been in charge. I'd like to thank Sharon Taylor who is undoubtedly the best secretary in the league and also to our club scout, you know who you are, who again went above and beyond, thanks to all the volunteers who have helped over the season without them nothing would be possible.

"The committee have been first class and backed me all the way last of all I would like to thank the players who have been an absolute credit to themselves and the club. I cannot praise them enough they stood and were counted during a tough time and showed tremendous character and spirit to secure our place in the league for next season and I think they all have the potential to go on and prove themselves at a higher level if the put in the hardwork and dedication.

"I have made a number of friends at the club and I am sure these friendships will continue. Again thanks to everyone for their support and hard work."
