Coventry Sphinx went down to a 3-0 defeat at Studley.

Danny McSheffrey's side rode out the early pressure and were awarded a penalty in the ninth minute when Tom Muldoon got down the right before being impeded by Peter Saunders. Referee Matt Homer awarded a penalty which Muldoon got up to take but his kick was saved by Bees keeper Matt Harris who dived to his right.

Tom Muldoon

Bailey was causing the Sphinx defence a number of problems but it was Kevin Jones who put Studley ahead in the 19th minute when he beat Farmer with a low cross after being expertly picked out by Lacey.

Muldoon made a good run and cut back for Adam Kinder to volley over a minute later, but Sphinx despite the good work of young Danny Fraser and

Muldoon failed to get to the second ball and it was the home side who had the better of the chances in the remainder of the half.

Fit again Sphinx defender Craig Goodbody and Kevin Jones had early shots as the second half started but in the 56th minute, Studley doubled their tally thanks to Nigel Haylor turning inside the area and thumping home a shot from twelve yards.

Goodbody had just been replaced when Studley hit a third thanks to Joe Adams being allowed space to volley into the net.

Danny McSheffrey sent on Luke Hopkins and the striker looked to be Sphinx's best chance of getting a goal back, having one shot go not far wide and a second saved by the keeper.

However, the damage had been done and Sphinx, who travel to Highgate United on Thursday night, were a beaten side.
