Loughborough University v Coventry Sphinx

Midland Football Alliance

Saturday 11th August kick off 3pm

Coventry Sphinx will start a new era on Saturday when Danny McSheffrey takes charge of his first competitive fixture as manager. Sphinx travel to newly promoted Loughborough University full of confidence having been unbeaten during pre-season which has seen McSheffrey's side beat Leamington, Southam United and an Aston Villa XI.

Whilst unbeaten during the build up to the new season McSheffrey is all too aware that complacency can creep in which is something he has reminded his players of saying, "I am under no illusions that our excellent pre-season form doesn't mean a lot now but it has bred confidence and a great team spirit. I'm really pleased with the attitude, commitment and fitness of the squad during pre season. We are all fully focused and looking forward to the Loughborough game. It will be a very tough fixture for us but we are certainly up for the challenge. We are missing a couple of key players for tomorrows game however I am very confident in the whole squad and come Saturday we'll be ready to perform''

McSheffrey welcomes keeper Carl O'Neil back into his squad following 3 weeks out with an ankle ligament injury whilst captain Terry Ward is unavailable due to a family wedding. New signings Aaron Donaldson and Tom Muldoon will both make their competitive debuts.
