Coventry Sphinx manager Luke Hopkins was upbeat despite his side's 4-1 loss at Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday.

Hopkins said to the Sphinx website: "First half, we were brilliant and I don’t think Boldmere expected us to get on the ball and play like the way we did.

"We conceded a poor goal from what was their only real threat on goal.

" The goal came from a mistake and at this level you play at you get punished for your mistakes when the likes of Mykel Beckley are around.

"We got back in the game with a pen, Luke Downes put it away and had another chance 5 minutes later which we failed to convert.

"Second half, Boldmere bombed everything on us and literally that was it for 20 minutes. We cut the source from full backs but you cant cut it from the keeper and they made use of their large centre forward and got themselves in the game by bypassing the team with 70 - 80 yard balls straight into us,

"We weathered it for 20 minutes and conceded a goal with a good bit fo play from their on loan forward from Sutton Coldfield Mykel Beckley.

"We went looking for the point we thought we deserved and went from hitting the bar and bouncing on the goal line to ten seconds later being 3-1 down. The fourth came towards the last minutes when we was three up top looking for a goal.

"Credit where it is due, the boys were decent again and if you can swallow any defeat it was Saturday as perhaps the age of the team was shown and missed chances.

"Boldmere must be up there to win the league with the players they have brought in last week adds a lot of quality to there side. We train and we look at areas of play this week and hopefully we build on what we are doing and go again.

"Saturday at home to Continental Star, is a big six pointer which I am sure the lads will be up for the fight."
