A Real Rollercoaster So Far - Hopkins

Coventry Sphinx manager Luke Hopkins feels that the Sphinx season so far has been a real rollercoaster.

Speaking to the Sphinx website, Hopkins said: "Its been a real rollercoaster so far.

"We lost the first game and it wasnt a game I felt we should have lost, a draw would have been a fair result and then we had 5 games unbeaten and two very tough games againt Lye Town, before losing to Rugby in the FA Cup which again was a poor goal to coif nceed, but we have identified issues and worked on them in training.

"I'm not saying they wont happen again, but the chances of them happening are hopefully less. As you move higher in football, the decision making is the large part of the game and the ability to make the right decision is more often is the key.

"The most disappointing result was Bardon Hill where being 2-0 up we lost 3-2. Point proven that in this league you need to be at it for 100 per cent of your time. But on the other hand it gave us fuel for the fire when 2-0 down at half time to Walsall Wood to come back and win 3-2.

"It's key we tick along this month as it’s a very tough on on paper and we need to pick up points. We have started September with three and we need to build on that.

"Hopefully, if all goes well, we will be adding two new faces to the squad which I expect to improve us again, else no point in signing them!!

"We have lost a couple but that’s football and cant just give minutes to people, but thank you to lads who have moved on for your time and commitment to Sphinx."
