All the Coventry City young players that enrolled in the club’s education programme have passed yet again, giving the Sky Blues top billing amongst all the other academies in the country for the second year running in the Academy League Football Education Performance Results.

City’s Education Officer Andy Ellis told Sky Blue Player: "These results are designed to show the level of retention and performance the academy achieves.

"The current results are based on last year's group which included the likes of Jordan Clarke and Nathan Cameron who studied a BTEC National Diploma in Sport, the equivalent to two A levels. For the second year running all apprentices have achieved their qualification.

"The course is directly relevant to their football apprenticeship covering subjects such as anatomy and physiology, fitness testing and training plus lifestyle information covering nutrition and drugs in sport. This work is undertaken on a Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon.

"A percentage of the funding for the course comes from League Football Education (LFE) who also provide opportunities for those who don't get offered a contract.

"This year of the four who weren't taken on by the club, two applied for Loughborough University while two have gone abroad with Luke Adams taking up a football scholarship in the USA and Conor Grogan taking up a football contract in New Zealand.

"All the lads have worked really hard throughout the year and deserve this recognition for their efforts.

"Cyrus Christie in particular has shown how it is possible to flourish in both his studies where he gained a number of distinctions and with his football having been given a professional contract.

"Nearly all of the credit for these excellent results must go to my predecessor Keith Newbold who was with the club for a number of years in various posts and put in place the structure that is proving so successful today."
