A classic game of two halves saw Coventry City U18's snatch a 2-1 victory against Wigan Athletic.

The game was only three minutes old when Wigan in their first attack after Lewis Rankin had sent a long ranger wide, broke through and their centre forward Ryan Jennings scored with a low finish past Gott.

In the 13th minute, Bako sent over a free kick which hit the bar and won the first of two corners.

Wigan had the better of the chances, winning corners and having their centre half head over whilst their number ten fired over from 20 yards in the 25th minute.

In the 39th minute, Wigan's number seven fired across the goal.

Wigan could have been three goals up but had to take a one goal lead into the break after Baker Richardson and Bako had fired over.

Making two changes at the break, City started much better after Gott had made a fine save from a free kick.

Ricky Fletcher let rip with a piledriver which was pushed away by the visiting keeper and Louis Garner fired wide from twenty yards.

In the 66th minute, City drew level when Jemal Wiseman burst through and sent the ball high over the keeper and into the net.

There were some good performances from the Sky Blues with Joe Pegg, Ricky Fletcher, Ivor Lawton, Alex Donald, Finch, Garner and Wiseman all putting in good shifts as City went looking for a winner.

Wigan had a storming goal ruled out with ten minutes left, but as we moved into stoppage time, a free kick to City was given, some twenty yards out. The Wigan keeper did not control the ball and Alex Donald bundled in to give City the victory.
