Sam Ricketts spoke about the young players at the club after Coventry City U23's 2-0 win over Bristol City on Monday afternoon.
We’re pleased with the win," Ricketts said to Billie Marshall. "There were some really good parts in the game but also things to work on. The players all applied themselves really well and that is all you can ask for, but it was a good victory.
“There were a few younger lads from the U18s, Jak Hickman scored a fantastic goal. I asked him before the game, does he like going forward and it was a nice surprise to see him score such a good goal.
“We’ve got some good young players here and we’ve continued that on from previous years. With the position the club is in, it is probably beneficial because these players get a chance in the first team if they perform. We have to blood young players through and give them a chance to succeed.”
