Farndon Delighted With Youth Cup Win

Coventry City U18's coach Jason Farndon was delighted with the Sky Blues 4-1 victory at Walsall last night in the FA Youth Cup.

"We’re delighted with result," Farndon said to Matt Joyce.

"We are disappointed with our second-half performance, it wasn’t a true representation of ourselves, but the main objective was to go through and we achieved that.

"Bassala has eight in two now, which is outstanding. He’s in a rich vein of form and the penny is dropping with him, not just with his goals and the way he’s been receiving the ball.

"He’s playing in a different strategy and he’s recognising he doesn’t need to take lots of touches to play, he can get it off and get in the box to score goals.

"We’d love to emulate last year, we have a home tie against Crewe so the draw hasn’t been kind to us again. Walsall are a good club who play the right way and we’re pleased to continue in the cup after getting through a difficult fixture."
