Sammy Clingan played for Coventry City Reserves against Cheltenham Town Reserves in a behind closed doors 2-0 defeat this afternoon at Fortress Ryton.

Clingan along with Michael McIndoe playing at left back, was involved in a game which saw Cheltenham take the lead in the 21st minute. Shaun Jeffers playing against his parent club, had a shot saved and Theo Lewis scrambled in Frankie Artus' near post corner.

Clingan forced Lloyd Weston into a good save diving to his left before Walsh and then Jeffers who was in good form, headed a free kick wide of the far post.

At the other end, Roy O'Donovan, who was once at Whaddon Road on trial, struck a post before the half ended with Cheltenham still ahead.

Just after the restart, Clingan sent a 25 yarder crashing against the bar and City struck the woodwork again for a second time shortly afterwards.

But in the 66th minute, a quality strike from Shaun Jeffers sent the ball high into the corner of the net for the second Cheltenham goal.
