Last updated : 16 December 2012 By SP

Coventry City were beaten 1-0 in their re-arranged FA Youth Cup tie against Bristol Rovers.

In a game played at Nuneaton Town, which robbed the City youngsters some much needed experience of playing at the Ricoh Arena, the visitors scored very early on through an own goal, following a Shaquille Hunter shot.

Ben Maund and Courtney Baker Richardson had two good chances with Maund just missing the left hand post and Baker-Richardson scuffing a six yard shot which the away keeper collected.

In the 25th minute, Bristol Rovers, who have sacked their first team manager Mark McGhee forced Shane Fagan into an excellent save.

City countered with a cracking twenty yarder from Louis Garner flying just over but in the 35th minute, Rovers attacked and hit the post from a corner which resulted in another corner that Ryan Quinn cleared up for Leon Lobjoit, who celebrates his 18th birthday this month to fire wide.

Quinn forced the visiting keeper into a low save but Rovers led at the break.

City were straight on the attack for the second half with Maund flicking on a header which was parried for a corner.

In the 55th minute, Garner drive right of the goal. Rovers went upfield and it was only a superb tackle from Joe Pegg which stopped the visitors from extending their lead.

City missed a chance in the 59th minute before both sides made changes with Forrester coming on for Baker-Richardson in the 65th minute.

Eli Bako and Jemal Wiseman were also sent on but Bristol Rovers held out and booked a trip to Birmingham City in Round Four.
