Coventry City are out of the FA Y‎outh Cup thanks to a comprehensive thrashing from Manchester City

An FA Youth Cup Fourth Round tie saw Jason Farndon's side who had beaten Peterbrough Northern Star, Rochdale and AFC Bournemouth, travel to Manchester to take on Manchester City who had knocked out Oxford United in Round Three.

The game took place at Manchester City's new Academy Stadium which holds over 7,000 on the Ethiad Campus but only one stand was open and the half that was open was nowhere near full.

In front of Steven Pressley, Neil MacFarlane, Steve Ogrizovic, Claus Jorgensen and Andy Morrell plus Bryan Flynn and a host of scouts, the hosts needed only 110 seconds for Brandon Barker to attack and sweep the ball past Jake Richards.

City, playing in all white, without the injured James Maddison, were always on the back foot but had the ball in the net in the eleventh minute from a free kick but it was ruled out

In the 19th minute, the Cityzens increased their lead when Thierry Am‎brose fired into the net from outside the area.

Two minutes later and it was three thanks to Brandon Barker dancing his way through the City defence and firing over Richards from the edge of the area and into the net.

Man City, who were forced into a change on the half hour mark won three corners in quick succession before Thierry Ambrose steered low into the net for a fourth.

Barker completed his hat-trick in the 35th minute with a stunning lob over Richards.

Birthday boy Kyle Spence won City a 38th minute corner which led to a penalty that George Thomas scored, beating Albinson on his left.

Two minutes before half time and Man City scored their sixth goal thanks to a low drive from Pablo Maffeo.

On the stroke of half-time, City who kept battling but were unable to do anything about the class of Manchester City, had George Thomas hit the right hand post of Albinson with a free kick. ‎

Man City took off Barker at half-time ‎and his replacement Javairo Dirosun jinked through and played a one-two with a City defender before scoring from close range past Richards, six minutes into the seocnd half.

The rain was coming down as ‎both sides made changes and the Sky Blues, playing in all white, pulled one back when Devon Kelly- Evans got the ball on the left and slipped it past Albinson.
In the 66th minute,.Denzeil Boadu was allowed to get through a City defence and score Man City's eighth of the night.

A good clearance off the line in the 73rd minute prevented a ninth goal before Luke Bromley became the final substitute used by City who did not disgrace themselves but were engulfed by a team who are one of the favourites for the competition.
