City fell behind in the 17th minute when Marshall crossed and Ben Dempsey came in to smash the ball into the net, past Tom Bilson, who made a cracking save the next time the Addicks attacked.

Sam McCallum did well for City as did Dexter Walters who was unlucky with a curling shot in the 27th minute.

Seven minutes later and it took a superb save from the visiting keeper to deny Jak Hickman who sent his free kick past the defending wall.

Charlton went up the other end and got a free kick. That came over and Ben Dempster was there to finish and put Charlton two goals up.

David Bremang had struggled up front in the first half and was replaced at the break as Jack Grimmer continued to get minutes into his body after coming back from injury.

The Sky Blues did pull a goal back in the 54th minute when Dexter Walters rounded the keeper but today, despite the efforts of Lewis Green who did well at the back, the Sky Blues lacked in the final third and a defeat it was.
