Goal - Kwame Thomas 61

Coventry City U23's got their season off to a great start with a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.

Nicky Eaden's side had Lee Burge in goal and was probably the strongest eleven they could field, taking into account, player availability.

Kwame Thomas headed wide early on and that was followed by Conor Hall dragging a shot well wide of Lee Burge's left hand post.

A good move involving Leahy and Devon Kelly-Evans saw the ball out on the left to Ponticelli who whipped in a seventh minute shot which the keeper held.

Ponticelli won City a corner in the tenth minute which cleared and in the next attack, Tom Bayliss rifled in a shot which Turner, dived to his right to push away as Mark Robins and co watched on.

Alex Perry curled in a 15th minute shot which Burge pushed away for a corner.

City passed the ball round well and limiting Bolton to half chances.

In the 31st minute, a great cross saw Thomas get in a header which Turner did very well to parry and then block the follow up shot.

Turner saved again from Thomas who rounded Turner in the 40th minute only for his effort to be cleared on the goal line.

Thomas headed over from a 42nd minute corner won by Devon Kelly-Evans who like the rest of his team mates, worked hard in the opening forty five minutes.

City, now fielding a trialist, were lively in the opening exchanges in the second half with Tom Bayliss cutting inside and firing wide in the 50th minute.

Ponticelli fired over before Dion Kelly-Evans was booked and Adeloye headed the resulting free kick wide.

In the 61st minute, a good move saw the ball go out from Ponticelli to the Trialist on the right. He sent the ball across the face of the goal and at the back stick, there was Kwame Thomas to score.

Ponticelli fired wide and Thomas headed over a Leahy cross before Shipley danced through in the 74th minute but sent a poor shot at Turner.

However, a minute later and Kwame Thomas who had played well, went down in a heap and did not move for a bit. The striker, whom City are expected to loan out, got to his feet gingerly but was ok to come back on.

Adeloye headed wide with five minutes left and headed wide again in the final minute and the Trialist missed a one on one as City started with a good performance and a win.
