Derby County 1-2 Coventry City U21's

Coventry City U21's continued their winning run with a 2-1 away victory at Derby County this lunch time.

In a match, which was switched due to Nuneaton Town's pitch being covered in snow, City, who will now take on Derby at home on April 8th (venue to be confirmed), travelled to Pride Park for an PDL League 2 North fixture which Derby insisted was played behind closed doors due to the lack of time to make arrangements to accommodate supporters.

City keeper Chris Dunn, was, according to the reports coming out of Derby, the busier of the two keepers, saving a swerving 20 yarder from Dales in the 12th minute and superbly saving from a Hoganson shot which had been deflected.

Lee Carley's side which saw Conor Thomas and Adam Barton return, might have been up against it, but in the 31st minute, they took the lead when Shaun Jeffers scored with a header from close range.

Three minutes later and City doubled their lead thanks to Shaun Jeffers again being in the right place after Adam Barton's shot fallen for the forward to score from six yards.

Dunn, who had a fine game in last week's 2-1 win at Birmingham City, did well to stop a 40th minute header from Valentin Gjokaj before the sides went in with City leading 2-0 at half-time.

The second half kicked off and a 48th minute slip by Hanson let in Shaun Jeffers who missed out on his hat-trick when he fired wide.

Ten minutes from time, Derby were awarded a penalty when Michael Jacobs was sent crashing by Joe Henderson. Jacobs got up and beat Chris Dunn to reduce the arrears.

Andy Dales hit the bar with a cross from the right with three minutes remaining.but City held on to record another decent victory.
