Coventry City U18's went down to a 1-0 home defeat against Reading..

The Sky Blues started cautiously but played some good football as the game on a sunny but cold morning at the Alan Higgs Centre.

In the 15th minute, a good ball from Joel Grandison played in Luke Bottomer for a shot which went just wide off the keeper's right post.

Nathan Cameron ensured the offside trap was well employed by the City defence and although Reading had a goal disallowed for offside in the 42nd minute, the Sky Blues looked good going into the break.

However, the second half, proved not to be so good, Grandison had a shot deflected for a corner but the visitors had an Oliver Keely shot saved by Michael Quirke at the other end.

When the 56th minute ball came back in, defender Angus McDonald was left with plenty of space to direct a header past Michael Quirke for the opening goal.

Callum Wilson beat the offside trap but could not beat the keeper and Joel Grandison firing across the face of the goal.

Unfortunately, City could not find a way through against a Reading side which should have gone two goals up in the 84th minute when Keely fired over.

A miserable morning was completed five minutes from time when Sulliman Lellu was sent off for retaliation.
