Coventry City U18's maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Southampton.

Greg Rioch's side got off to the perfect start in the fourth minute. Ashley Cain cut inside from the left. His route to goal was blocked so he squared the ball for Jordan Clarke to rifle the ball high into the net from thirty yards.

Stewart Henderson side started to get back into the matcgh.

Michael Dolinjec volleyed over in the 27th minute and four minutes later, Tony Garrod got in a shot which Burge pushed round for a corner. The ball came over and Jeff Imuda's volley flew inches over.

City should have a penalty in the 40th when a handball was not given by the referee and five minutes into the second half, the Sky Blues lead had been wiped out.

Dolinjec drove from the right, the ball went across the face of the goal and hit the far post. The ball rebounded and Tony Garrod duly tapped home the loose ball.

Greg Rioch made a double change bringing on Grandison and Leluu in the 70th minute,

City pressed again and with nine minutes to go, Ashley Cain got forward and won a corner. Sean Fraser took the place kick and sent into straight into the mixer for Bradley Jones to head into the net.

The City support,on a warm day at the Alan Higgs Centre, had their celebrations curtailed as a minute later, the visitors were level.

In a carbon copy of the first goal, Bob Scott got the ball on the right and drove a shot in. The ball hit the far post and Daryl McLean tapped in.

Sean Jeffers headed wide at the death of what was an entertaining match and a good result for both sides.
