Coventry City U18's went down to a 3-0 defeat at Leicester City this morning.

Greg Rioch brought in Lee Hildreth against a Leicester side at Belvoir Drive, which had three over age players in their starting eleven.

Both sides played some good football early on. Neil Collett made a superb one handed save to push up a ninth minute cross but City went up the other end with Andy Richie and Adam Walker just missing with headers.

City defended well, sometimes not to the liking of an inept referee and were only prevented from taking the lead in the 35th minute when the home keeper dived high to his right to deny a Richie sixteen yard volley.

Richie, who has scored three in his last matches, drove just the other side of the far post with a twenty yard drive, five minutes later.

Two minutes before the break, Neil Collett, who picked a hamstring strain,   made a breath taking save to push over a drive.

In the 58th minute, Leicester took the lead when the ball was played to Rob Burns who hit a first time shot past the helpless Collett.

Lee Hildreth was a revelation in midfield and used his experience to help the Sky Blues five man midfield. but in the 75th minute, Burns added a second  for the league champions when he was first to a header on the edge of the area which he powerfully steered into the top of the net.

Leicester added a third four minutes from time to complete a victory. Ryan Beswick advanced on goal and was allowed space as players stood off. He hit a 23 yard pile driver which flew into the net and gave Leicester the victory.
