Coventry City U18's beat Southampton 2-1 this morning.

On a glorious morning at the Alan Higgs Centre, City started brightly, playing a good passing game.

Then just as Andy Thorn, Richard Shaw and Lee Carsley arrived, Ivor Lawton let rip with a thirty yard screamer which flew into the net on the half hour mark to give City a deserved lead.

The Saints side managed by former Sky Blue Paul Williams levelled four minutes into the second half with a deflected shot from the right.

Both sides played some entertaining football with Ben Maund having a 59th minute shot pushed round for a corner and the visitors hitting the post in the 76th minute after dealing with a counter-attack from a Sky Blues side that now included a number of U16's.

The Saints keeper made a great reaction save in the 83rd minute but with two minutes remaining, Ben Maund scored from the edge of the area to give City the win.
