Coventry City U18's were back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City in a tight match.

With the sun coming out for this match which was switched to Coventry from Cardiff, the opening exchanges were lively with Lee Burge making a cracking tackle to deny Jordan Jackson, Jonson Harris-Clarke firing over and the Sky Blues winning three corners, the third of which saw the visiting keeper use his chest to block Josh Ruffles flag kick.

Even without ten goal Billy Daniels in midfield, City were able to play some cracking balls to the forwards from the likes of the excellent Joe Henderson, Josh Ruffles backed up by Arron Phillips.

City hit the bar in the 38th minute and then forced Dave Richards into pushing a shot over his bar for a corner before the half ended.

Ruffles had two good chances at the start of the second half.
Just before the hour mark, Cardiff were denied a penalty by a referee who was not keen on playing advantage and instead booked Jesse Darko for diving

Gregor Rioch made two changes and in the 70th minute, one of those in Ben Maund got down the left and slipped the ball under Richards to give Coventry the lead.

With seven minutes to go, Lee Burge denied the visitors an equaliser when he grabbed the ball on the line after a corner had not been dealt with.

Courtney Richards, who like the rest of his team-mates worked hard, fired wide in stoppage time as City took a deserved win.
