Coventry City U18's put in a superb performance this morning to beat Birmingham City 3-0.

Greg Rioch's side attacked from the start with Adam Walker lobbing onto the bar in the fourth minute.

The Blues defence were always under pressure with Sean Jeffers and Matty West both having good chances before both sides struck the woodwork.

Preston headed against the crossbar in the fifteenth minute but three minutes later, Walker danced into the penalty area before hitting the left hand post with a left footed drive from eight yards.

Birmingham replaced the injured Preston in the 21st minute with Jordan Anderson, who was six inches taller than every other player on the pitch.

Reminiscent of Peter Crouch, Anderson won everything in the air including a header on the half hour mark which he crashed onto the crossbar before Michael Quirke brilliantly cleared away.

It was only a matter of time before the Sky Blues converted their pressure into goals and the first goal came in the 33rd minute when Nathan Cameron was on hand to bundle home a corner from Sean Fraser.

The goal capped a superb performance by Cameron. He led a very solid back four who all had the ability to make well timed tackles and then play the ball upfield with skills that were a joy to watch.

With the excellent Jordan Clarke backing him up, Ashley Cain was able to find plenty of room on the right flank. Two minutes into the second half, he whipped in a cross which Ogleby fired just over and then the same combination led to Coventry scoring a second goal.

A 50th corner to City was given much to the annoyance of the Birmingham bench. Cain delivered the ball right into the six yard box for Robert Ogleby to bundle into the net.

Birmingham were well beaten and in the last minute of the match, Cain got the ball on the right and centered for substitue Jacob Blackwell to head into the net from fourteen yards to give City a victory that an excellent performance had merited.
