Coventry City U18''s had to work hard for their 1-0 victory over  Birmingham City this morning.

On a gorgeous morning at the Alan Higgs Centre, the Sky Blues struggled to find the form which had seen them beat Leicester last week and keep their place at the top of the Academy League Group B table.

Lee Burge pushed a Jamie Spencer shot over the bar and Jervani Brown fired over before Lee Carlsey''s side came back with a corner and a 26th minute Ben Maund flick which was well saved by Townsend in the Birmingham goal. In the 34th minute, City took the lead when Jonson Clarke Harris ignored the pulls on his sky blue shirt and curled a low shot from the edge of the area in to the net.

Townsend pushed a Ruffles corner over afor another corner and Lee Burge saves with his left foot from Spencer. The watching scouts in a good crowd watched a tight second half with Willis and Hencerson marshalling City''s defence well, whilst Maund, Richards, Philips, Roberts and Daniels stuck to their tasks.

Spencer headed wide from a corner before a burst of speed from Clarke-Harris saw the U18''s leading scorer rifle a shot which Townsend did well to hold.

Birmingham might have been in ninth in the table but they kept battling and made sure that City had to work for their victory
