Coventry City U18's final game of the season ended with them being well beaten by Southampton.

Southampton, who are second in the Group A table, started a touch better with a couple of early shots to keep Alex Gott busy before a superb ball in the 13th minute was played to Jemal Wiseman who poked wide.

Sinclair and Chambers had efforts, followed a Sam Hoskins volley got not far wide of Gott's left hand post. Will Roberts worked hard and had a good run and shot in the 27th minute. Then on the half mark, he flicked the ball to the unmarked Jamal Wiseman who lofted the ball over the Saints keeper to score.

In a game where both sides played good football, Hoskins fired across the face of the goal just before the break. Southampton piled on the pressure at the start of the second half. The assistant on the far side was not up with play and missed the ball being played across the area and Cyrus Christie being forced to clear for a corner.

Gott saved a Sinclair twenty yarder before City went up the other end and won a 51st minute corner. On the hour mark, Southampton were level thanks to Sam Hoskins sweeping home from five yards following a cross from the left. Gott, deputising for Lee Burge who was on first team duty, saved a 65th minute free kick and after Courtney Richards had come on made a cracking save diving to his left to deny Isgrove. In the 73rd minute, Isgrove delivered a cracking ball into Sam Hoskins to stroke home for the Saints second goal.

For the final fifteen minutes, City played three at the back but in the final minute, Hoskins completed his hat-trick with a stunning eighteen yard volley which flew into the net.
