Coventry City are through to the Third Round of the FA Youth Cup following a 4-3 win at Rochdale

Jason Farndon was able to field a strong side for a Second Round game at Spotland, which included James Maddison and George Thomas, plus the Kelly-Evans twins.

Dale, who had beaten Nantwich 9-0 in the previous round, took the lead through Billy Hassler-Cregg finishing off a Hooper cross in the tenth minute.

However, City levelled in the 36th minute when the Rochdale keeper failed to hold a Maddison free kick and City's Wales U19 international George Thomas pounced to score.

Two minutes after the restart, the Sky Blues took the lead when James Maddison scored with a low shot and in the 49th minute, City were 3-1 up when Maddison scored from the penalty spot.

A fourth goal came following good work from Devon Kelly Evans finding Kyle Spence to fire home in the 61st minute before a James Hooper chip reduced the arrears in the 65th minute.

Rochdale made two substitutions and one of them Harry Pratt scored in the 85th minute to further reduce City's lead.

With time running out, Rochdale had a corner, a free kick and another corner but City held on to book their trip to AFC Bournemouth in the Third Round.
