Coventry City Academy have furthered their relationship with South Birmingham College.

Last season, City played SBC in a friendly and links were initiated. Now, the partnership has been formalised and will give promising players coming through the College system a chance of playing professional football.

Chris Beard, the SBC Academy co-ordinator told the CT: "We recruit most of our kids from inner city Birmingham and we have a lot of raw talent that has not been spotted.

"Coventry City's Academy has seen the potential in our students and wants to bring some of the lads to the club. They have already shown an interest in oue or two of our players.

Mark Fogarty, City Academy Recruitment Manager and coach for South Birmingham College added: "It makes great sense for Coventry City to link up with the college. There are many boys who come into the professional game after they leave school like Scott Dann.

"The players receive the quality of coaching they would at a professional academy and the ones who are really committed may have an opportunity to join the pro-ranks via ourselves."
