Coventry City Academy boss Gregor Rioch has said that Lee Carsley is someone that the U18’s players can aspire to be.

Carsley, a former Republic Of Ireland international who has played in top flight football and had two spells at City either side of playing for Everton and Birmingham City, starts as an U18’s coach on Monday.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Rioch said: "Lee was the kind of player that our young boys look up to and aspire to be and if he can be here to explain to them the discipline, sacrifice and hard work it takes to get to the top of the game it can only be beneficial to them.

"Lee is a joy to have around the place, we're delighted to be working with him and I'm looking forward to giving him his first taste of academy coaching at our home friendly with Shrewsbury on Saturday.”
