Five Days Free Top Up Time

Arena Coventry Limited boss Daniel Gidney has announced that there will be five days free grace for those who wish to top up their cashless payment card via the cashless payment website.

Some City supporters who had been successful in trying to top their cards up with credit may have been already charged a minimum of £2.35 but after complaints from supporters which were backed by all the major City supporting websites. Mr Gidney had had the service charge lifted until after the Aldershot game on Wednesday night.

After Wednesday night, the charges will apply once more as will a £2 charge for those wishing to claim a refund on-line.

Said Gidney to the club website: "I was unhappy that supporters were being charged to top-up via the web in this way. "Because the debit card system is currently unavailable, I do not believe it is acceptable to charge those supporters topping up with a credit card.

"Therefore, anyone topping up between now and the Aldershot game will do so for free and those who have already paid can claim a refund online.

"We will have further discussions with the company behind the cashless system ahead of Wednesday night's match to make sure we can come to a suitable arrangement until the system is able to accept debit card payments.

"Hopefully, this will now encourage more supporters to log on and top-up ahead of tomorrow's exciting kick-off against Norwich City. Or, of course, they can top-up with one of the many cashless card staff at the Ricoh Arena on a match day.

"As we have said all along, this service has been designed to speed up transactions and to help the customer experience at the Ricoh, but it is obviously a big change and we would ask supporters for their understanding."

Anyone wishing to top up their card or claim a refund is advised to do so in person on a matchday.

As pointed out by Ray Ranson at the fans forum on Wednesday, Coventry City FC do not currently make anything out of the concourse catering and the money made from this venture will go to the loss making Arena Coventry Limited and Rubery Based Compass Catering.
