TRAVEL

By Road (Please use OL11 5DR for Sat Navs)

From either the East or West via the M62: Spotland Stadium is just over two miles from junction 20 of the M62. Follow signs for Rochdale along the A627(M). At the first set of traffic lights keep left, sign posted Bury and Rochdale Town Centre. B&Q will be on your right hand side, follow this road until the next set of traffic lights. Here you need to be in the second lane of four lanes, to head straight across (sign posted Blackburn). Follow this road (Roch Valley Way) until the next set of traffic lights, remaining in the left hand lane. At the traffic lights go straight ahead on to Sandy Lane (the Cemetery pub should be on your right hand side). Continue along this road and the Stadium is on your right hand side after approximately half a mile.

By Rail Rochdale train station, which is served by trains from Manchester Victoria and Leeds, is about 2 miles and 35 minute walk from Spotland. Taxis are available outside the station at a cost of around £6/£7.

Tickets are priced at Adults £15, Seniors(over 65) £10, Young Adult (17 to 21) £10, Juniors (16 and under) £5.

THE LAST TIME

This will be Coventry City’s sixth visit to Spotland for a competitive match and the second time for a League Cup tie.

On October 8th 1991, Coventry City, having beaten Rochdale 4-0 at Highfield Road, lost 1-0 at Spotland in a League Cup second leg with Clive Baker who was in goal for City that night at fault for the goal.

Of their five previous visits to Spotland, City have lost all five matches with the heaviest defeat a 4-1 loss in a Third Divison North game in 1925/26.

MATCH OFFICIALS

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City’s Capital One Cup First Round tie at Rochdale is Eddie Ilderton.

The 45 year old Tyne & Wear born referee has refereed Coventry City Ladies matches on his way to the National League list which he joined in 2002

His last City game was the 1-0 defeat to Leyton Orient at the Ricoh Arena on April 20th 2013 when he booked six players.

Other City matches he has been in charge of are the 1-1 draw against Reading on September 23th 2011,  the 2-1 win over Derby County  on August 21st 2010, the 3-1 home defeat to Reading on October 31st 2009,  City's 2-1 home defeat to Burnley in which he sent off Kevin Kyle in January 2008, a 1-1 draw at Derby on April 9th 2007, the 2-0 home win against Wolves in January 2006 and the 3-1 home defeat by Cardiff in October 2003.

He was in charge of Doncaster Rover’s 1-1 draw with Bury on Saturday.

His assistants are Guy Hilton and Paul Hodskinson. The Fourth Official is Scott Oldham.
