Ryan Lowe, who scored a hat-trick for Tranmere against City last Saturday, put the Dons back in front in the 37th minute. However, three minutes into the second half and two goals from Steven Elliott gave City a 3-2 win and sent just under 5,000 City supporters in a crowd of 13,660, home happy.
