Coventry's Lord Mayor Councillor Shabbir Ahmed has kicked-off Coventry's support for England's World Cup team as he helped to put up the first of one hundred "Come on England" banners in the city centre this week. The rest of the banners will be erected over the next few days in time for England's World Cup campaign.

As well as carrying the cross of St George and the "Come on England" slogan the banners will also feature the COV'06 logo.

Councillor Shabbir Ahmed said: "Local support for England to do well is beginning to build and there's a real buzz of anticipation. The banners that will go up across the city this weekend will add a splash of colour and is just our way, as a city, to show our support for the team."
