MATCH OFFICIALS

The currently appointed referee for Coventry City’s first game back at the Ricoh Arena against Gillingham is Keith Stroud.

Mr Stroud got into refereeing after running the line for his parks team. The referee on one of these games approached him after the game complimenting him on his performance as an assistant referee and gave him details of the up and coming referee course to consider which he duly attended.

Mr Stroud, an official who believes that a smile on occasions helps to diffuse situations and helps to encourage positive interaction from referee to player/coaching staff, was appointed to the FIFA International Assistant Referees list in 2004 and joined the Select Group Referees list in 2007.

His last City game was the 2-1 defeat at Brentford in October 2012 and previous City games he has been in charge of are the defeat to West Ham United in November 20122, the 1-0 defeat to Swansea in January 2011, the 3-2 home defeat to Leeds in November 2010, the 1-0 win at Plymouth Argyle in December 2009, the 0-0 home draw with West Brom in October 2009, the 1-1 draw at QPR in January 2009, the 2-0 home win against Leicester in February 2008, the 0-2 home defeat to Palace on Boxing Day 2007, the 0-1 defeat at Wolves in October 2007, the 0-0 at Colchester in March 2007 and the 2-0 home win against Sheffield United in March 2006.

Coventry famously gave 2-Tone music to the world. Spawning bands like The Specials, The Selecter, Madness and The Beat. 2-Tone music, as influential as it was, is only a small reflection of the vast musical talents that Coventry can lay claim to.

At the Coventry Music Museum, we tell the real story of our musical heritage, going right back to the Roman occupation. We stop along the way at Music Hall, 50’s Rock’ N’ Roll, the 60’s Beat scene and we even have the Lennon Bench, commemorating the famous ‘Acorns for Peace’ event.

There’s the 70’s, when Coventry ruled the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Our 80’s area celebrates Hazel O’Connor, The Primitives and of course, King.

In the 90’s we go all Bhangra, then we celebrate Dave Willetts in Phantom of the Opera (we even have his original Phantom mask).

Now it’s The Enemy‘s time, with many unique items from Coventry’s current hitmakers here on display. Not forgeting new talent, with our Artist of The Month!

Bar and cafe available.
