Coventry City U21's were beaten 2-0 by Nottingham Forest on Monday afternoon.
At Nuneaton, City U21's boss Darren Murray was able to name a team which saw an U21 home debut for Reece Charles-Cooke. Seb Hines in his first come back game and a Trialist up front.
On an afternoon of sun and showers and with Tim Flowers working for Forest, whose manager, a former Sky Blue was also in attendance and Steven Pressley, Neil MacFarlane and Steve Ogrizovic plus Marcus Hall, George Mckay, Ian Goodwin and Liam Daish watching on amongst a sparse crowd, City started with a sixth minute free kick.
Two minutes later, the Trialist helped City to win a corner which De Vries dropped and a defender had to clear away.
A foul by Hines gave Forest a free kick and a corner which was easily caught by Charles-Cooke on his old stomping ground.
In the thirteenth minute, Forest struck the post with an Oliver Burke shot after he ghosted in from the right.
Forest won another corner three minutes later and thankfully, Dion Kelly-Evans was able to clear the ball off the line.
Steven Pressley made a number of trips from his seat in the press box to the touchline to give out instructions to a City team who conceded a 25th minute corner and another six minutes later.
Burke raced through in the 33rd minute and was upended by Hines who was cautioned. Thankfully. Charles-Cooke was down to comfortably down to collect.
The City keeper then made a great save from Josh Rees on the right before clearing some danger from a ball from the left.
The Trialist fired at De Vries in the 43rd minute and ten minutes into the second half, Charles-Cook saved with his legs from Roger Riera Camadell
In the 57th minute, Forest took the lead when a cross from the left was met by the unmarked Oliver Burke who headed high into the net on Charles-Cooke left hand side.
Murray made a triple change in the 65th minute taking off the Trialist who had nothing of the ball in the second half.
Forest won a 70th minute corner and it was an inswinger that was met by the head of Roger Riera Canadell and went in at the near post.
The Reds won another corner in the 81st minute and made their final change after Pearce and Flowers and co had left for somewhere warmer.
They missed Todorov hit the crossbar with a header and another corner for Forest but left far happier than those supporting the Sky Blues.
