Nuneaton Town manager Kevin Wilkin has resigned and left the club this morning.

Wilkin is favourite to take over at Wrexham FC, who have been looking for a manager after Andy Morrell stepped down.

Nuneaton Town have issued the following press statement:

"It is with regret that Kevin Wilkin has left Nuneaton Town as First Team Manager, he role in the resurgence of the club cannot be understated and it has been a privilege to work with him during the last six years, we have had both a fantastic friendship and a professional relationship in every sense of the word working closely together with challenges both on and off the pitch. I am of course deeply disappointed to lose Kevin but following continued success he pedigree has become highly and deservedly desirable.

As a club we offer our thanks and wish Kevin the very best of success for his future career.

Wilkin was appointed Nuneaton Town Manager in June 2008 and achieved three promotions in that time, stabilised the club last year in 2012-13 in Conference National with progression to head the table and leave the club in a playoff position in the final part of the season."
