Warwixkshire County Cricket Club were in action on the second  day of their County Championship game with Middlesex at Edgbaston. Having lost Monde Zondeki to a grion injury which will see the fast bowler return to South Africa as a precaution, Warwicks collected the final wicket to have Middlesex all out for 297 and then went to bat. They raced past the fifty mark before Ian Westwood was caught for 14. With the score on 166, Warwicks lost the wickets of Powell (47), Trott (50) and Jim Troughton for one. Skipper Darren Maddy retired hurt on 39 bur a half century by Tim Frost and 41 from Ant Botha took Warwicks to 272-4 before bad light ended play. Warwicks were dealt a blow yesterday when Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya announced that he was going to play for his country in the Asia Cup in Pakistan rather than play for The Bears in the Twenty20 cup which starts on June 20th. Ian Bell and Tim Ambrose are both in the England starting eleven for the second test against New Zealand which starts tomorrow at Old Trafford. Both will be hoping for better batting performances with Bell making 16 and Ambrose a duck.
