Warwicks Win At Durham Uni

Warwickshire County Cricket Club Beat Durham University Cricket Centre of Excellence by 74 runs at Durham University today.

Durham UCCE declared this morning on 118-9 and Warwicks batted for a second time.

With Poonia out without scoring after facing only two balls, Tony Frost could not repeat his first innings century and was out for sixteen.

Stefan Piolet was not out 26 whilst Javid was out for 12 and Johnson 11. Keith Barker made 23 before Warwicks declared on 94-5 after seventeen overs.

This set Durham UCCE 242 runs to win. Jimmy Anyon struck early when he had Paget caught by McLeod for 4.

Paul Johnson took the score on but with the score on 82-1, Stefan Piolet who had taken six wickets in the first innings, struck with two wickets in two balls. to remove Westley (26) and then Dixey.

Fourteen runs later, Piolet claimed his third victim when he had Atkinson caught by Johnson who also caught Paul Johnson for 73.

A partnership of 31 ended when Foster was the sixth Durham player to lose his wicket when he was bowled by Tahir for four off fifty balls. Tahir followed that up by taking the wicket of Harper with the next ball and two balls later Glover, leaving Durham 75 to win with two wickets remaining.

But Buttleman who was holding out was dismissed by Piolet and then
Williams became Tahir's fourth wicket to see Durham all out for 167 and a win for Warwickshire by 74 runs. 

Warwickshire are back to County Championship action on Tuesday when they face Durham at Edgbaston. Play is due to start at 11am and commentary will be on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's website.
