Warwicks Twenty20 Defeat

Warwickshire were beaten by thirteen runs against Worcestershire at Edgbaston tonight.

Warwickshire were unchanged for their final Midlands,West and Wales Twenty20 group game and for the first time in these group matches, Warwickshire bowled first.

Neil Carter and Jimmy Anyon opened the bowling for the Bears restricting the Royals to 5-0 after two overs.

Graham Hick hit a four and a six in an innings of fifteen before being caught in the slips off the bowling off Jimmy Anyon with the score on twenty tow. Five runs later and Neil Carter bowled Vikram Solanki for three and a ball later,Ben Smith was given out lbw to the delight of a crowd of around 14,000.
Worcestershire, who had some of their supporters mopping up their New Road home earlier today, started to up the run rate through Phil Jaques and Steve Davis.

The partnership which ran to 52 off 41 balls was finally broken up by Tim Gronevald catching Davis off the bowling of Darren Maddy.

Jaques was caught and bowled by Paul Harris for 38 as Worcestershire made 143-5 after their twenty overs.

Warwickshire started their innings reasonably well with Neil Carter making 30 and Darren Maddy 17 But Jim Troughton was out for three, Tim Ambrose 12, and Heath Streak 15. Only Alex Loudon offered some resistence

However, the run rate was slow and Warwicks went down to a defeat by thirteen runs with their score on 130-8.
