Warwicks Toil In Local Derby

After beating Leicestershire last night in a Pro 40 game by 81 runs, Warwickshire County Cricket Club toiled against Leicestershire on the opening day of the County Championship game at Grace Road.

The day started well with Jimmy Anyon trapping Boyce leg before in the fourth ball of the game and then taking the wicket of Dippenaar with the score on thirteen.



Paul Nixon made 35 but the star of the hime side was Ackerman who finished 173 not out at the close. His innnings saw 24 fours and one six.

Ian Salisbury took two wickets with one each for Neil Carter and Ant Botha as Leicestershire ended the day on 288-6.

In the test match at Edgbaston, it was another bad day for England. The Michael Vaughan Out brigade had a field day when he was caught by Boucher for a golden duck.

Coventrian Ian Bell made fifty,Alistair Cook 76,Andrew Flintoff 34 not out and Warwickshire's Tim Ambrose hit 22 but it was South Africa's day and England were all out for 231.

South Africa were 38-1 at the close with Flintoff taking the wicket of Smith.
