Warwicks In The Field

Warwickshire County Cricket Club has a day in the field on the opening day of the County Championship game against Durham at Edgbaston.

Durham won the toss and batted against a Warwicks side which had Boyd Rankin back from international duty with Ireland in the Twenty/20 World Cup and he opened the bowling with Chris Woakes.

It was the latter who struck first with the score on 31 when he had Smith LBW for a single. Sixty six runs were added before the second wicket came and saw Muchall out for 39 again LBW to Woakes.

Di Venuto became the third victim of Woakes when he was also trapped LBW.
Blenkinson lost his wicket to Neil Carter and then Phil Mustard was out for 24 after being caught by Ian Bell to leave the score on 206-5.

Ian Blackwell and Breese batted on with Blackwell reaching his century in a partnership of 98 off 148 balls and included 13 fours and 1 six before Breese (48) became Carter second victim.

Opener Stoneman who had been injured early on came back to partner Blackwell (107 n.o.) as Durham ended the day on 322-6

Warwickshire's Second X1 were in action at Coventry & North Warwick Cricket Club today against Worcestershire. At Binley Road, Warwicks closed on Day One on 366-9.
