Again, the rain has not helped Warwickshire's chances of another County Championship victory against Somerset at Edgbaston.

With yesterday's play wiped out due to a soggy outfield, play did get under way at Edgbaston this morning.

Warwicks, who gave Newport his first class debut, won the toss and elected to field.

Boyd Rankine struck first for Warwicks having Suppiah caught behind by Tim Ambrose with the score on seventeen.

The vistors took their score on with Marcus Trescothwick 92 not out. Justin Langer added 69 before he was caught by Ambrose off the bowling of Chris Woakes.

Somerset were on 192-2 when rain stopped play.
