Warwicks Get To Play

Warwickshire County Cricket Club finally got into action on day three of the County Championship game with Nottinghamshire.

After the umpires had taken the decision to rule out play on the opening two days of this match, Warwicks finally started to bat on day three.




Ian Westwood and Tony Frost put on 87 for the opening wicket. The latter was caught by Read from the bowling of Ealham for 37.

The Warwicks skipper continued to play some good shots along with new batsman Ian Bell, before Westwood was out for 73 from 133 balls.

Bell went on to make sixty before being caught by Wagh. The score was then on 220-3 but Jon Trott (37),Tim Ambrose (0) and Keith Barker (0) lost their wickets in quick succession to leave Warwicks on 242-6 in the 75th over.

Neil Carter and Jim Troughton rescued Warwicks and ensured a second batting point with a partnership of 71. This was ended when Carter, who had hit three sixes and five fours out of 47 runs lost his wicket to a catch by Shreck.

Warwicks closed on 367-7.
