Warwicks went into the morning session on 214-9 but Sreesanth and Boyd Rankine only added five to the total before the Irishman was blowed by Shreck.
Notts enforced the follow on. Ian Westwood was out for 11 with Warwicks on 53 and Ant Botha had made 64 before being caught by Patel.
Ian Bell and Jon Trott grabbed the mantle. Bell was 92 not out and Trott made 121 from 170 balls before he was out shortly before the end of play.
Warwicks closed on 298-3.
