Vote In Coventry's Walk Of Fame

Last updated : 31 January 2008 By Walk Of Fame

Coventry's eagerly awaited Walk of Fame takes a crucial step forward this week with the announcement of a 20-strong shortlist of names to be honoured.

From these 20, the public will be asked to select the final 10, by voting for their top three choices.

The ten names will then be inscribed on bronze plaques to be set into the floor of Priory Place in the city centre and unveiled in May.

People can vote in a number of ways, either by completing a nomination form in their local paper or registering their vote on the City Council's website at www.coventry.gov.uk.

The closing date for votes is Monday, February 18 (5pm).

Peter Walters, Head of Economic Development for CV One, who chairs the Walk of Fame group, said,

"We're delighted with the response we had to nominations from local people and we think we have compiled a very strong shortlist, full of people whose achievements we should be very proud of in this city. It will be fascinating to see which ten final names emerge from the shortlist.

"I would strongly urge Coventry folk to take part in the voting and would make the point that this is just the start. There will be opportunities in future years to add to that first list of 10".
