Up and coming Coventry Darts player Scott Rand was beaten in the second round of the 2012 World Championship at Alexander Palace this afternoon.

The 37 year old Lorry Driver (pictured above) who is looking to turn full time professional, went down to a 4-1 defeat to Colin Lloyd, despite throwing more 140s and and 100's than Lloyd. Rand had beaten Andy Smith in the first round and won the second leg 3-2 but could not stop Lloyd from Colchester taking the next three legs and progessing to the next round.

Coventry City supporter Steve Beaton (pictured below) also missed out on a place in the last sixteen when he was beaten 4-1 by Simon Whitlock, who was a beaten finalist two years ago.

Beaton missed crucials darts to keep the match alive before Whitlock who had over-come a leg injury in order to play, wrapped up the victory.
