Super Trott Leads The Way

Jon Trott led the way with 166 on the second day of Warwickshire's County Championship game with Sussex at Edgbaston.

After the wash out of yesterday, the weather in Birmingham allowed a full day's play and this saw Ian Westwood caught after two runs had been added to Warwicks over night score of 5-1.

Ian Bell, who had been released from the England test squad faired no better and he was caught Hodd, bowled Collymore for two.

Trott and Jim Troughton took the score on before Stratford's Troughton was out for 18 to leave Warwicks on 71-4.

Tim Ambrose added 28 with Rikki Clarke hitting 36 and Ant Botha making a splendid 46.

With the score on 329-7, Trott's innings. which had lasted 247 balls and saw him hit 20 fours in a score of 166 ended when he caught behind by Hodd.

Neil Carter was out for 17 as Warwicks closed on 349-9 after one hundred overs.

In the first Ashes match at Cardiff, England on the opening day were 336-7 at the close. 

Kevin Pietersen made 69, with Paul Collingwood 64, Matt Prior 56 and Andrew Flintoff 37.
