Storm Stuffed At Heathens

Coventry Storm Speedway Team were heavily beaten in their first ever meeting.

The Storms who will ride in the National League this season, went to Dudley Heathens for a Travel Plus Trophy meeting and were soon 10-2 after the Heathens took the opening two heats 5-1 at Monmore.

A 4-2 win and a 5-1 victory in a rerun heat four saw the Storm down by fourteen points.

Joe Jacobs took the tactical ride for Coventry in heat five and held off Starke to take a 6-3, followed by a 3-3.

Heat seven was also a 3-3 before The Heathens won a re-run heat eight 4-2.

A 3-3 and two 5-1's meant that by heat eleven, the Storm were 21 points down and Oliver Greenwood took a tactical ride in heat twelve to try and get some points back. The arrears were only reduced by two points

A 4-2 in heat thirteen restored Dudley's 21 point lead which was maintained by a 3-3 in the next heat.

A miserable night ended with a 5-1 in the final heat and the Storm started with a 60-35 defeat.  

The home leg takes place at Brandon on April 19th
