Storm Lose The Travel Plus Trophy

Coventry Storm speedway team were beaten 44-46 by Dudley Heathens in the second leg of the Travel Plus Trophy tonight at Brandon tonight.

Storm trailed 60-35 from the first leg at Wolverhampton and took a 3-3 in the opening heat.

With Clegg falling off his bike and being excluded from the re-run, Storm took a 4-2 win. However, a 5-1 and 4-2 had Dudley 14-10 up after four heats.

After some track grading, heat five finished in a 3-3 before Dudley took two 4-2's to extend their lead.

More track grading, Richard Franklin and Martin Knuckey rode to a 5-1. A re-run heat nine brought a 3-3 and in the next heat, a 4-2 for the Storm had them 29-31 down.

After the interval, two 3-3's and two 4-2 had the Storm in front by two points going into the final heat.

However, Starke and Lewis rode to a 5-1 and condemned the Storm to a 44-46 defeat and an aggregate 106-79 loss.
