Steelers Too Tough For Blaze

Coventry Blaze were beaten 3-1 tonight at Sheffield Steelers in an Elite League game.



Paul Thompson's side led through Curtis Huppe in the 14th minute but despite being backed by a very niosy three hundred strong support, some of whom had seen City beat Leicester earlier in the day in a crowd of 4,821, Sheffield equalised in the second period through Randy Dagenais after thirty minutes.

A penalty shot scored by Jeff League in the 58th minute put Sheffield ahead and with four Blaze players getting ten minute penalties for misconduct including man of the match Trevor Koenig,Dan Tessier scored into an empty net.

Blaze, who are being touted by Birmingham City Council to fill their rink, are at home tomorrow night to Nottingham Panthers. Face off at the Sky Dome is at 6pm.
